Antennas

Having regard to the advice and comments of Larry K5MK I decided not to use, during this activity, my Buddipole. I bring with me W8AMZ 40m wire vertical antenna as well as Spiderbeam asymmetrical inverted vee for 20-17-15-12-10m bands. I hope it will work better than Buddipole and also will allow me to change quickly a band without rebuilding the antenna configuration.

AS-130 seems to be wanted by many

I received a few e-mails, mainly from US hams, which inform me that my small activation can be important as AS-130 is wanted by many people. I am also receiving advices concerning propagation, best hours for activity and antennas to be used. Thank you for all of them and appreciate to get more. Do not hesitate to write to me. I want to learn from you as much as possible.

Good news - short paths should be OK...

Inspired by Skip W5GAI I made a simple analysis and found that hills on Con Son shouldn't block SP to EU and NA east coast as they are located far enough from my QTH. Hills are height about 400 m but away from the resort about 2-3 km. So, take-off angle greater than 10 deg will avoid blocking.

Con Son Island operation

I am going to operate from Con Son Island during my next spring vacations. The island is not very remote and inaccessible however AS-130 group has been claimed by 17.1% IOTA chasers only... So, I expect to experience nice pile-up.
My QTH will be on southeastern coast what causes that short path to NA and EU will not work well. Unfortunately all resorts are located in this part of the island.
See you on air!
